Love as the motivation.

"But we proved to be gentle among you, as a nursing mother tenderly cares for her own children. Having so fond an affection for you, we were well-pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become very dear to us." 1 Thessalonians 2:7-8

They lived among them.
They were tender as a nursing mother.
They had fond affection for them.
They gave the Gospel to them.
They gave their lives to them.
Their love grew.

Being a chameleon.

"For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may win more. To the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might win Jews; to those who are under the Law, as under the Law though not being myself under the Law, so that I might win those who are under the Law; to those who are without law, as without law, though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ, so that I might win those who are without law. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some. I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become a fellow partaker of it." 1 Corinthians 9:19-23

Paul made himself as a slave to the lost.
To Jews ... he was a Jew.
To Gentiles converted to Judaism ... he was like them.
To Gentiles (not under law) ... he was as a Gentile.
He stayed pure ... under the law of Christ.
To the weak ... he acted weak.
He became anybody ... to win anybody.
He did it all for the Gospel.
Paul wrote five times that his goal was to win the lost.
He used all means to save some.

Note: Paul followed the example of Jesus ... who was a chameleon. Jesus, being God, took on human form to bring the Gospel to us, Philippians 2:5-8.
